Nursery 18.09.26

What a busy week in Nursery. We are very proud of our Nursery children who were with us last year, they continue to show the new children what to do! They are following our routines, using our visual timetable, using pictures to help each other put things where they belong and using the communication boards placed in our areas to help them. As new children join, please encourage your child to continue this.

We continue with our language screening assessment, Draw a Person assessment and as part of our TLLT assessments, I complete a baseline within 2 weeks of beginning Nursery. We are very busy!

Lots of the skills we are working on at the moment include listening and following simple instructions, asking for help if they need it, beginning to take turns in areas both indoors and outdoors and following our play routine – Choose it, Use it, Put it Away! And all while we live out our Newham Bridge Values – Inspire, Enjoy, Achieve!

Joining, mark making, filling containers, building, rolling and pouring. Lots of language rich activities in Nursery.

Observing, cutting, placing and mark making.

Listening, following instructions, jumping in different directions and hoop control!

Carrying, bending, scooping, filling, pushing, stirring, twisting and emptying.

And after such a busy week, a little treat for the children for coming to Nursery everyday. We have new 100% attendance stickers off Mrs Barker too! Very cool!

Phonics and Oracy

This week we have been making sounds with our voices and bodies. Lots of clapping and tapping.

We continue to practise these Nursery Rhymes in phonics. Please practise them at home too.

Our story this week…

This week our story was What do I look like? We looked at ourselves in the mirror and explored our features. Do you have blue eyes? Brown eyes? Green eyes? Long hair? Short hair? Curly hair? Straight hair?

Certificates

Our pupil of the week this week is… Cruze! We are super proud of the resilience he has shown this week. Well done Cruze.

Birthdays

No birthdays this week, but our toy Elephant had a birthday party in the play dough, so that was fun!

Notices

PE kits on Wednesday please.

Please send baby photos to contact@newhambridge.org.uk. We will be looking at them the week after next.

Please make sure details on Arbor are up to date.

Our Community

Don’t forget to look in your Primary Times for ‘What’s on’ over the next few weeks in Middlesbrough.

During October half term, the Hullabaloo in Darlington has a show on of one of our favourite Nursery books! Not Now Bernard!

If you are involved with events in the local community, feel free to share flyers/posters with us and we can put them on our community notice board in the corridor.
