Spring 2 – Screen Time

Some parents have been mentioning the difference it has made limiting or stopping screen time for their child in nursery.

Based on evidence, recent government advice has been issued to help reduce the impact screen time has on our children’s development, wellbeing, social and emotional impacts, physical and mental health, and safeguarding risks. Please find the information below and if you have any questions, regarding this issue please let us know.

Parental Control

You might feel under pressure from your child to allow them access to content online that isn’t suitable for their age (for example a game with an adult age rating). Some advice from the Kids Online Safety Campaign is that, rather than saying no straightaway, see if there are any alternatives more suitable to keep them safe. For example, suggesting a game like the one they want to play, but with the appropriate age rating.

Below is a link to guidance on parental controls. Having regular conversations about online safety can help your child understand why you have parental controls.
