Autumn 1 – Week 6

We have had a very busy week with your children assessing their retained knowledge and understanding from Year 3, 4, 5 and the start of their Year 6 journey. Everyone has worked their socks off! We are very pleased with their determination to try their best, apply their metacognition strategies to increase independence and stay motivated in each assessment. An extra well done to all the children who applied our Top Tips every day this week and it was a joy today to share with them their results from their Arithmetic paper. We were able to have a quick insight into percentages today as this is a new area of knowledge, but one we will be covering in year 6. Please ask your children have to find a percentage of an amount or watch this video so you can test one another 🙂

Some year 6 children had a wonderful afternoon at Outwood Acklam testing their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills by accessing some challenge KS3 mathematics – a huge well done to you and it seemed like you were definitely puzzle solving wizards – great spatial reasoning skills applied!

Finally, in science this week we studied the relationship between the digestive system and the circulatory system, then applied this knowledge to create the 4 components in blood: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Ask your child about their lesson or recreate the investigate at home by following the link.

2DJ – Kendall for her involvement in all learning to check and deepen her knowledge and understanding of the topic being studied!

2KT – Eddie for applying his metacognition skills to build resilience and determination to succeed in all lessons!

Two amazing Pupil of the Weeks, I wonder who next week will be?
