We have had another wonderful week in KS1!
In Maths, 1TS have been exploring number bonds within 10. We have used practical equipment to support our understanding and progressed to systematic number bond!
1MG and 1AC have been practising our subtraction skills and subtracting whilst crossing the tens boundary.
In English, 1TS have been consolidation our learning on common nouns and proper nouns. We have been sorting them into groups and have been drawing and labelling different common and proper nouns in our books. We know that we need to remember to use a capital letter for a proper noun.
1MG and 1AC have written a non-chronological report on Florence Knightingale. We remembered lots of key information and facts.
1TS have thoroughly enjoyed our guided reading this week. We have been reading ‘Whatever Next’. We re-read the story as a whole class for support our fluency and engaged in some role play to retell the story. The children were fantastic and enjoyed flying to the moon in our homemade rocket!
In History, 1TS have been exploring the life achievements of Neil Armstrong. We then placed his life events on a timeline in chronological order.
1MG and 1AC have been comparing the work of Mary Seacole and Florence Knightingale and the impact of their work on our lives today.
Thankyou…
Thankyou to everyone who attended our Maths morning this week. It was a great success and the children loved having you in school to support them with their maths skills whilst having fun.
Notices
Your child has received a letter all about Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRF) in Maths. KIRFs are facts your child needs to be able to recall with speed and accuracy. Each letter will explain the objective your child is working on for the half term; it will give you an example of a task your child will do in school, vocabulary and home learning ideas. We suggest working with your child little and often at home to help them recall these facts to support mental maths work in school.
