Newham Bridge Primary School has an amazing School Council who meet regularly to discuss and think of ways to improve the experiences of all children, staff and families in our school community. The school councillors develop a range of leadership skills and become responsible, respectful and active pupils.
The School Council consists of 12 pupils from each class, who have been elected by their classmates. They each represent pupil voice on behalf of their class and help to discuss and raise issues that have been brought to them. They will feedback any information to their class and to the Head teacher. We discuss many topics such as:

- The school’s Trust REACH Values – Relationships, Equality and Equity, Aspirations, Celebrating Diversity and High Expectations.
- The school’s Golden Rules- Supporting how they are followed in school.
- The Right’s Respecting Values – The children’s rights are promoted and realised and we work towards these goals together, focusing on key areas; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem.
- Reviewing playground behaviour and equipment.
- Health and Safety – They may have spotted concerns within the school grounds e.g. fallen branches, broken benches . . .
- Fundraising events and annual school fairs – Helping to raise money for charities and the school.
- Improving and maintaining the school environment and make decisions that promote responsibility and environmentally friendly practice.

The School Council will help to create posters for key events and help organise and run fundraising events and also help to talk to external visitors and within assemblies about key issues.
We are very proud to have them as part of the Newham Bridge team.
