We’ve had a wonderful last week before our half term break. We’ve come to the end of our topic ‘Gods & Mortals’. This week, we learnt lots about Alexander the Great, Athens and Sparta and their similarities and differences and more about how the ancient Greeks lived. We celebrated the end of our topic with a fun-filled Greek morning. We made Spanakopita (a Greek pasty filled with spinach and feta) with our school cook Kate. We loved finding out about the different ingredients and making them, but we loved eating them even more! Some of you might have been lucky enough to have a taste if they made their way home. We ended the week with a quiz all about this half term. We were amazed how much the children remembered and Neptune were crowned winners. Well done!
Have a lovely half term break everyone. Don’t forget the first Thursday back is World Book Day. We aren’t dressing up this year, but there’ll be lots of lovely activities in school and we have our potato competition. Please bring your entries in ready to be judged on Friday.
POW
Well done to our final POWs of this half term.
In 2SB, Zheer is our POW. Zheer has had a great week and shown a much improved attitude and has also put in a huge amount of effort into his work. Well done Zheer. Keep it up.
From 2HH, our POW is Layla P. Layla has shown great determination, especially in maths. Well done Layla.
Star reader
This half term, we have introduced a new special award for those children who really impress their teachers in reading. Our first reading star of Y4 is Lily A. Lily always reads at least 3 times each week at home, she contributes in guided reading and loves to read. Well done Lily. We hope you enjoy your book and certificate.
Enjoy, Inspire, Achieve awards
As we come to the end of this half term, it is also time to award our values to 3 children from Y4.
Enjoy – Laila created a fabulous homework project. She had clearly enjoyed her work on Ancient Greece and she loved sharing her homework with her friends in Y4.
Inspire – Lexie-Lou found swimming challenging but she showed great resilience and by the end of the 2 weeks achieved 25m on her front and back. A real inspiration to others.
Achieve – D’Arcy showed great progress with her times tables. She has worked hard on TTRS and is much more confident. Well done!
