A bagful of books!

The children in 1DJ had a fantastic afternoon last Friday, telling all their friends about some of their favourite books.  As part of the previous week’s homework the children were asked to bring in a ‘storybag’.

The storybags had to have a few items in them linked to one of our favourite books or stories.  Some bags contained clothes, costumes, toys, lists, games, models, pictures and instructions.

Our friends from Year 1 and Reception came over to have a look at our bags  and ask us questions about them.  We had a brilliant time!

Well done to everyone and thank you all for your efforts!

Spelling Bee 2014

This afternoon children took on the teachers in the 3rd annual Newham Bridge Spelling Bee!

Teachers and children went head to head in teams of six to be crowned this years champions, taking turns to spell out loud.

Mr Jackson hosted the event and as always took us on a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout the afternoon, guiding us through moments of drama, disappointment and unbridled joy.

After one or two technical hitches the Spelling Bee turned out to be a comprehensive win for the children for the 3rd year in a row!

Travelling Book Company

Thank you for your support this week with our book fair.

The book fair proved to be very popular and it has been lovely to see so many of you encouraging your children to look at, read and develop their enthusiasm for books – something we are very passionate about in school.

Your support has raised a very generous amount of £291.17 which we can invest in new school books.

A very big thank you!
