A bagful of books!

The children in 1DJ had a fantastic afternoon last Friday, telling all their friends about some of their favourite books.  As part of the previous week’s homework the children were asked to bring in a ‘storybag’.

The storybags had to have a few items in them linked to one of our favourite books or stories.  Some bags contained clothes, costumes, toys, lists, games, models, pictures and instructions.

Our friends from Year 1 and Reception came over to have a look at our bags  and ask us questions about them.  We had a brilliant time!

Well done to everyone and thank you all for your efforts!

Maths Open Afternoon (1DJ)

On Thursday afternoon parents were invited to come into class and see the fabulous maths going on at school. It was great to see so many visitors talk to the children about what they were doing. They also joined in with a sing along to help us remember our number bond to 10. The children were working very hard but still took time to explain what they were doing.

If you were not able to make it in then we can send home a copy of our calculation policy which tells you all about the methods we use in class. Please don’t hesitate to ask if there is anything we can do to help you more with maths.

Maths Week for KS1

It has been a great start to maths week in 1CD, 1ZH and 1DJ.  We have already had fun with maths art and an awesome maths trail around school!

Later this week we will be having a grand maths quiz – who will be dynamite with their digits and perfection with their patterns?  We will have to wait and see.

We are all looking forward to welcoming our parents and family into school on Thursday afternoon (2:30pm) to come and see some marvellous maths in action!

Quiz winners and photos will be posted later on in the week.  Come back soon and have a look.
