Year 6 EU Referendum

Today Year 6’s took part in an EU referendum to decide whether Britain should leave or       remain part of the European Union. After doing lots of work in class looking at the pros and cons of each side, children were given a polling card which enabled them to vote. They used their card to sign up when they arrived at school then went into a polling booth to cast their vote before entering it into the ballot box.

This gave children an insight into what life is like for an adult voter and how it feels to be part of a democracy. We have had some fantastic class discussions, with both sides being        passionate about what they believe. We had a 72.2% turnout, with 61.5% of those pupils  choosing to remain and 38.4% choosing to leave.  We are looking forward to seeing if our class views are representative of what the nation thinks about the EU.

Well done Year 6!

Galapagos Brochures

As part of our ‘Darwin’s Delights’ topic, Year 6 have created some tourist brochures for the Galapagos Islands. We sent these to a leading Galapagos Travel Provider- ‘Think Galapagos’. The Managing Director, Marketing Manager and a Leading Galapagos National Park Guide then judged the brochures and selected 3 winners.

Congratulations to:

1st Place Olivia Y

2nd Place Tao Z

3rd Place Sahra A

The judges also wished to commend Kaitlyn C, Harrison H and Amber G, who also impressed them with their work.

Congratulations to all the children for their excellent work and a huge thank you to ‘Think Galapagos’ for working alongside us on this project.
