Mrs Beverley Hewitt-Best is head teacher of Newham Bridge Primary School, a state school for boys and girls aged from 3 to 11.

Newham Bridge Primary School is situated at the end of Cayton Drive, Acklam, Middlesbrough.

Opened by Alderman J.A. Brown in 1969, the school is classified as a primary coeducational school for boys and girls between the ages of 4+ and 11+. There is also a 26
place nursery.

Our aim is to ensure that each child will feel valued and achieve their full potential.

Our intention is to ensure that a sound educational foundation is laid upon which to build for the future.

This philosophy is at the centre of our aims for the school, which are as follows…

  • To provide a happy, caring school where each child is given the opportunity to develop fully, according to ability and aptitude.
  • To develop pre-school skills through structure play to create stimulating, exciting and attractive environment where children can question, investigate and experiment.
  • To encourage the feeling that achievements are related to each child’s level of ability thereby nurturing a good self-image.
  • To foster an awareness and understanding of the outside world to educate each child to be a useful member of the school community and ultimately the community as a whole.
