Sport at Newham Bridge
At Newham Bridge we offer our students a strong sports programme. Our students have a vast array of opportunity to take part in a variety of Sporting activities from their regular class PE to competitions both in and outside of school.
We have recently been awarded, by Schools Games, the Silver Mark award.

Y3 Racquet & Ball Festival
The children in Year 3 went to a brilliant sporting event this week! The aim was to build skills and confidence in using racquets, based on the sports of badminton, tennis and squash.
We had a fantastic time playing games which helped develop hand-eye coordination, balance, power and teamwork.
MPS Cross Country
Congratulations to all of our competitors in todays Middlesbrough Primary Schools Cross Country. Our runners did themselves and the school proud.
Year 6 Girls Football Tournament
Congratulations to our Y6 girls football team who competed in the Middlesbrough Primary Sports Football tournament at MSV yesterday. Battling through adverse weather conditions to finish a respectable 3rd in their final. Well Done
Year 5/6 Football Tournament
Congratulations to our 2 Y5/Y6 football teams who competed in the Middlesbrough Primary Sports Football tournament at MSV. Both teams played really well finishing 1st and 3rd in their finals.
Year 5-6 Middlesbrough Schools Football
On Friday 30th September we entered two teams, a boys and girls, into the Middlesbrough Schools Year 5/6 Football. All the children had a fantastic day playing football, encouraging each other on and most of all demonstrating great sportsmanship.
In the afternoon, both the boys and girls reached the final of their respected groups, which they both went onto win.
Congratulations to everyone involved on the day.
Sports Day 2016
This year, Newham Bridge have been celebrating the 2016 Rio Olympic games. This came to a finale on Wednesday 6th July when the children hosted their very own Olympic Games at Middlesbrough Sports Village. The children took part in a parade, which they had made their own props and costumes for, 8 sporting events to compete for the house cup and sprint and relay races to finish the day!
All children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, taking part in activities which challenged their skills. Following the 8 sporting events SATURN were the overall winners for the day and received the house trophy.
All children received a taking part medal to finish the day and individual sprint winners claimed a trophy each. A big thank you to all of the children, staff and parents for making the day so enjoyable for everyone!

Today a group of our Year 3 & 4 students took part in the QuadKids Athletics event at Middlesbrough Sports Village.
The event saw the children take part in 4 different events throughout the day, 50m, 400m, Howler and the Standing Long Jump. The children had great fun competing against the other 23 Middlesbrough Schools and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Congratulations to our team who came 6th overall.
Newham Bridge Basketball Tournament!
On 20th May 2015 Newham Bridge held their first annual basketball competition at Middlesbrough College. All teams that competed had a great afternoon, showing lots of fantastic skills and sportsmanship. The event was kindly supported by the Tees Valley Mohawkes, who helped organise the venue and provided excellent referees for the matches.
Newham Bridge entered a Y3/4 and a Y5/6 team into the event. The Y5/6 team worked extremely hard finishing a commendable 3rd overall in the competition. The Y3/4 team excelled on the day and walked away with the winning trophy! A huge well done to all who took part in the event.

Tees Valley Mohawks
On Saturday 16th May a group of our students were invited to watch the Tees Valley Mohawks basketball team in action at their new home, Middlesbrough Sports Village. The students got to watch a pre-season exhibition match as well as playing a mini game of basketball during the half time interval. All the students thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
